Balanced Bites, Bold Moves, and Other Ramblings
In the past 10 days, I’ve done alot. Even for an over-achiever type. I figured out how to start a blog. It’s not perfect, nothing ever is. In this last week, I’ve enrolled in Nutritional Therapy Association to pursue a certification as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I’ve geekishly posted on Instagram more than probably ever, one post, of which, was to gush over how much I love Diane Sanfilippo and Liz Wolfe (aka the Balanced Bites Podcast ladies). *See story in the next section. I’ve signed up the be a Beauty Counter consultant. And I’ve continued to do the normal every day things one does. Including yoga. Did I mention I work full time for an investment company?
So Diane Sanfilippo (google her) is a certified Nutrition Consultant, awesome podcaster, and is a New York Times Best Selling author of a couple of books you may have seen. Really, feel free to google her. She’s had a few AMAZING Instagram rants lately, so I reposted one of her recent posts just to mostly point out, I totally agree with these ladies on SO much. Here’s my “ohmygosh I just got my fanmail answered moment”. But allow me to explain the backstory. Instagram keeps adding features. Those of us that are not considered “millenial” (no offense) typically can’t keep up. Millenials can’t keep up either half the time. So Liz (not Diane – Liz – her podcast co-host and an awesome Nutritional Therapy Practitioner) posts a live video and wants comments to know if it’s working. Now, the day before, I was chuckling at Diane being so hardcore and secure in herself that she did a live video. It wasn’t cooking. Or makeup. Or walking the dog. It was Diane doing dishes and chatting with whoever was watching. And she didn’t give a rat’s ass. I LOVED it. I only wish I could be so bold. So when Liz posted a much more casual “hey guys, is this working? I’m not doing anything exciting”, I commented “thank you for not doing dishes. lol”. Now, I assumed Liz had NO idea what I was talking about. (She didn’t). But somehow Diane heard about it or saw it or whatever. Which to me is just both funny an awesome. So when I reposted Diane’s recent post mentioned above, you can imagine my shock when I got the below. To be clear — in my world, these ladies are basically Kate and Pippa Middleton.
There was more, and it ended with Diane commenting with happy smiley kisses. I might have blushed. But you guys, DIANE answered me. I’m such a nerd. Flash forward to later that day (yes, literally, a couple of hours later), I catch a video by someone I’d just started following saying “hey, there’s a webinar tonight hosted by someone I follow. You guys should sign up — you probably follow her too”. Aka – she’s probably a big deal. So I shoot off a quick direct message and say I’d like to join the call. This girl is currently enrolled in NTA, so I’m curious.
Another couple of hours later, I join this call. And there’s LIZ. I know, I know. Some of you have no idea who these fabulous ladies are. But you should. I’m currently reading Liz’ book (RealFoodLiz), ‘Eat the Yolks’. You guys, so good. So, so good.
So this call – it’s a call to talk about Beauty Counter. Why it’s different. What makes it awesome. And she (along with an amazing co-host), encouraged those who are truly passionate about Beauty Counter to consider joining as a consultant. Now, you guys, I’ve sat in on MLM/Direct Marketing calls before. One for foods/supplements. A couple for essential oils. One for a very popular makeup brand. But I never joined. I’m terrible at marketing. And sales. But you know what? I believe in Beauty Counter and their promise as much as I believe in Holistic Nutrition. It’s a PART of it. This stuff that you put on your skin absorbs into your body. Why both eating right if I’m just going to put chemicals on my body that absorb into my bloodstream and still cause health issues?? Look, I’ll say this. What got me to even BUY Beauty Counter in the first place was honestly their mascara. The company has been around for a few years (I haven’t gone through my training materials yet), and only recently did they release a mascara. Compare it to Chipotle and queso. Everyone wanted it, they never had it til now. Why? Same reason. They could not stay true to their ingredients and promises and come out with a mascara they thought was worth selling. But after A LOT of work and research? They came out with one. They now have a lengthening as well as a volumizing, and I own both. I would NOT have signed up for a company I hadn’t researched, and certainly if I had never used the products. It’s hard enough to take out sulfates, and parabens, and a ton of other chemicals and have products that actually perform well. And guys, their products are phenomenal. I haven’t been disappointed yet. So if you want to know more, certainly send me a message or check out my Beauty Counter page. They don’t have every skin or beauty product you could ever imagine, so I don’t know that many (including myself) would convert to only BC, but some of this stuff (like the Counter Match Adaptive Face Lotion) literally just blows away anything else I’ve ever used – and I’ve used some crazy expensive stuff from Nordstrom, Sephora, and Neiman Marcus. A few years ago, my diet was so poor and my face was so bad (acne, rosacea, dry, oily, melasma) I’d have done ANYTHING to have better skin. I had to start with nutrition first, but like I said above. What you put ON your body impacts it too. So yes, I’m a consultant. I don’t want to sell you a cream or shampoo you don’t need. I don’t want to sell you anything. But if you want to experience safer, cleaner beauty (not just makeup – whole beauty), I’m happy to help and share what I’m learning, and you can of course browse through my site at www.beautycounter.com/tiffanymontgomery.
This has been a week. A long crazy exciting week. And I’m exhausted. But I have direction. And it’s good healthy direction that energizes me. So if you’ve made it this far through my post, thank you for following. Thank you for spending time with me.
